The event celebrated Black History, but more than anything else, the emphasis was on the future.

St. Luke AME Zion Church hosted its second annual African American Trailblazers and Trendsetters celebration Saturday, which saw youths portraying famous individuals from their heritage.

For instance, Sidney McKnight Jr. — wearing a white lab coat and stethoscope — became Dr. Ben Carson “because in the future, I feel like I want to be a doctor. It feels good whenever I help people.”
