Trump bullish on African-American support after Kanye West visit


President Trump displayed confidence Friday that his support among African-Americans is growing in the wake of his meeting with rapper Kanye West in the Oval Office.

“We’re asking all African-American voters to honor us with their support this November,” Trump said at a campaign rally in Lebanon, Ohio. “Get away from the Democrats. They’ve done nothing.”

Trump boasted about black Americans faring better under his administration, saying “we have the best numbers in history on employment and unemployment and median income.”

The unemployment rate for African Americans in September was 6 percent, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. That’s almost double the national unemployment rate of 3.7 percent.
