Tropical Storm Isaac: Forecast path looks ominous for the Caribbean


Tropical Storm Isaac could make a beeline for the Caribbean this week — and be a hurricane when it does.

The National Hurricane Center urged those in the Lesser Antilles to watch Isaac closely and said it could impact the islands by Wednesday or Thursday.

It’s too soon to speculate on where Isaac could go after that — and if it could affect the U.S.

The hurricane center also increased Isaac’s potential wind speeds in its intensity forecast, suggesting it could have winds of 100 mph three days from now.

As of 10 a.m. CDT Sunday, Tropical Storm Isaac was located about 1,470 miles east of the Windward Islands and was moving west at 9 mph.

Isaac’s winds rose to 65 mph. Its is expected to continue to strengthen over the next few days.
