Charleston County just got a whopping price estimate for fixing up the former Charleston Naval Hospital, which the county bought last year for $33 million to settle a lawsuit.

Rehabilitating the building in North Charleston will cost twice that much, County Council was told Tuesday night. That puts a $99 million price tag on a building that the city of North Charleston bought six years ago for $2 million, then sold to developers for $5 million.

And after spending about $99 million to buy and renovate the tallest building in the city, if the council were to take that path, then the county would not expect to occupy the building until July 2020.
