Thandie Newton to direct 1960s period film about three African-American girls

Thandie Newton is well-known for her Hollywood film roles and Emmy-winning role as robotic host Maeve Millay in HBO sci-fi drama Westworld, but now she is finally about to start directing a project that has been in the work for years.
