Former Black Panther Demands Trump Give African Americans the State of Florida

The former chairman of the New Black Panther Party and current president of Black Lawyers for Justice demanded over the weekend that President Donald Trump provide reparations for slavery or designate Florida as solely for African Americans.

PJ Media reported Malik Shabazz made these declarations speaking at the National Black Men’s Convention in Lafayette Square park across from the White House on Saturday.

“We must have reparations, full compensation for the theft of our land, the theft of our bodies, the theft of our people from Africa, the theft of our dignity; the desecration of our souls decade after decade after decade after decade,” the convention leader said.

Shabazz continued, claiming to speak for African Americans, arguing rather than a government handout, “We want our…

‘The Nation’ Angered that ‘Racist’ Trump to Pardon Late African-American Boxing Champ

The Nation’s sports editor Dave Zirin is livid that the man who occupies the White House, courtesy of the slave-holders who devised the electoral college, is getting the credit for pardoning Jack Johnson. The African-American Johnson was an early 20th century boxing champion who also served prison time for a criminal charge.

Johnson (shown in photograph) was the first African-American world heavyweight boxing champion, from 1908-1915, the era of Jim Crow. He had dated and married white women, and in 1912, he was arrested for violating the Mann Act forbidding a person from transporting a woman across state lines for “immoral purposes.” He fled the country, but later served jail time for what was considered a racially motivated arrest.

President Obama never saw fit to pardon Johnson. But after…

Who was Jack Johnson, the boxer who may be pardoned by Trump?

“His trials and tribulations were great, his life complex and controversial,” Trump tweeted. “Others have looked at this over the years, most thought it would be done, but yes, I am considering a Full Pardon!”

But who was the boxing legend Jack Johnson, and why would the President give him a pardon?

Born in March 1878 in Galveston, Texas, according to Encyclopaedia Britannica, Johnson became the first black heavyweight boxing champion after defeating Tommy Burns in Sydney, Australia, in 1908.

Two years later, he faced off against boxer Jim Jeffries, who had been called out of retirement and was referred to as the “great white hope” because many white fans wanted him to beat Johnson and take back the heavyweight crown.

Johnson defended his title in Reno, Nevada, in front of a mostly white crowd,…
