Sky and Space signs MoU with Caribbean organisation

Sky & Space Global continues to make headway in its push to secure more customers for its full constellation of 200 miniature telco satellites that will be launched into space from next year.

The company has now signed a binding MoU with The Organization of Eastern Caribbean States, or “OECS”, for the provision of network services to the region.

It comes just weeks after Sky and Space reached a binding MoU with Caribbean internet service provider, Foundation Busie Suriname, that formalises their commercial and technical cooperation.

Sky and Space making waves in the Caribbean

Aspiring telco company Sky and Space Global is looking to tap into the Caribbean telecommunications market following a successful demonstration of its three narrowband pilot nano-satellites at a roadshow in Georgetown, Guyana, this week.

The company has started discussions with the Caribbean Telecommunications Union to explore the provision of connectivity services in the region.

The Caribbean Telecommunications Union is an inter-government treaty organisation responsible for supporting the development of the information and communication technologies sector across the Caribbean.

Nano-satellite narrowband services to the Caribbean region will be provided courtesy of up to 200 miniature satellites that Sky and Space is planning to blast into space by the end of next year.

The British-based Sky Sports says it will show all 34 matches of the 2018 Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL) live in the United Kingdom (UK) and Ireland.

“This year’s tournament, which runs from Aug. 8 to Sept. 16, will once again see some of the best cricketers in the world take part in a competition that in 2017 attracted a combined broadcast and digital viewership of over 197m fans,” said Sky Sports in a statement on Sunday.
