Egypt, South Africa officially bid to host AFCON 2019 – CAF


Egypt and South Africa have officially put in bids to host the next African Cup of Nations, AFCON; the continent’s football governing body said on Saturday.

The Confederation of African Football, CAF, revoked hosting rights of Cameroon, who till early December were billed to host the tournament slated for mid-2019.

CAF cited inability to complete logistics and insecurity in parts of the country as part of the reason Cameroon could not host the competition. Yaounde has vehemently rejected the claims.

New Miami-St Vincent Flights Officially Begin

American Airlines’ new flights to the island of St Vincent have officially begun.

The first nonstop flight from Miami to St Vincent’s Argyle International Airport touched down on Saturday, Dec. 15.

The year-round service will operate weekly on Saturdays on an Airbus A319 aircraft.

To have direct service out of Miami is a game changer for the country. Cayman Islands governor officially removed from post

GEORGE TOWN, Cayman Islands (CNS) — Cayman Islands Governor Anwar Choudhury will not be returning to the Cayman Islands but will be re-posted to London, according to an extremely brief statement from the governor’s office on Thursday. Officials said that a short-term successor will now be appointed while the recruitment process for a permanent replacement begins.

Choudhury was suspended from the job more than three months ago and recalled to the UK, following unspecified allegations against him from his household and office staff, understood to relate to bullying. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) appears to have completed the investigation but has not said anything at all about the findings.
