Aruba cruise ship ‘murder’ probe after woman ‘choked and thrown from top deck’


Police in Aruba are investigating the death of a woman who was reportedly choked and thrown from the top deck of a Caribbean cruise ship.

The 52-year-old is thought to have crashed onto a life boat and severed her leg in the horrific incident on board the Royal Princess.

The woman’s partner, described as a ‘muscular American’ man was escorted from the ship by police on Tuesday.

The couple were aboard the cruise liner, which had left from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on November 9, bound for Aruba.

According to reports in Aruba, a man was seen choking the victim before she was thrown from the 16th deck of the vessel.

Horrified passengers described the “gruesome” scene “with glass everywhere” when the woman hit the lifeboat below.

Indictment: Murder suspects went to apartment to rob Cooper graduate

Two of the four people accused of killing an African refugee and Cooper High School graduate said they were just going to the apartment to commit a robbery and that no one was supposed to get hurt.

Johnathan Dwayne Williams, Jr., 18, Xavier Mushawn Applin, 17, and Chassidy Cheyann Pimpton, 21, were indicted Thursday for murder.

Police say they shot Chance Bonni, 23, in the chest with a shotgun on Aug. 18 at the Stonegate Apartments.

South African attackers found guilty of student’s horrific rape and murder


Four men accused of the violent robbing, kidnapping, rape and murder of student Hannah Cornelius, and the attempted murder of her friend Cheslin Marsh, have been found guilty in a South African court.

Vernon Witbooi, Geraldo Parsons, Eben Van Niekerk and Nashville Julius were on trial in the Western Cape High Court for threatening and kidnapping the two victims, before assaulting and stabbing Marsh and then raping and strangling Cornelius to death.

Witbooi, Parsons and Van Niekerk were found guilty of robbing, kidnapping, raping and murdering Cornelius, as well as the attempted murder of Marsh, according to TimesLive.

An inquest into the death of an exiled Rwandan ex-spy chief who was found strangled in a luxury Johannesburg hotel in 2014 will open in January, a South African court official said Thursday.

Patrick Karegeya, 53, was living in South Africa when he was killed in a room at the plush Michelangelo Towers hotel in the Johannesburg suburb of Sandton.

“It’s not a trial it’s a formal inquest and it starts on 16 January,” the court official told AFP.

“At this stage we are holding a formal enquiry to ascertain who was responsible for the death,” said the official who did not have permission to speak to the media.

Mr Karegeya was head of external intelligence for nearly a decade before falling out with President Paul Kagame.

Louisville Man Indicted For Murder In Shooting Deaths Of 2 African-Americans


LOUISVILLE, Ky. (LEX 18) — The man accused of fatally shooting two African-Americans at a Louisville grocery has been indicted for their murders.

The indictment was read in court Wednesday. Gregory Bush, 51, of Louisville was indicted in the deaths of Maurice E. Stallard and Vicki Lee Jones. He is charged with two counts of murder, one count of attempted murder and two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment.

Stallard was in the store with his grandson when he was shot in the back of the head, police say. Officials say Bush then shot Stallard several more times before killing Jones in the parking lot.

Witnesses say that Bush also confronted a white bystander who had a gun but allegedly said: “Don’t shoot me. I won’t shoot you. Whites don’t shoot whites.”

CCJ overturns Belize murder conviction

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad — In the case of Japhet Bennett v The Queen, the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) has overturned the conviction of Japhet Bennett, who had been found guilty of the 2009 murder of Ellis Meighan in Belize City and was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2013.

During the trial, Marlon Middleton, Meighan’s brother-in-law, had denied parts of his statement to the police that had identified Bennett as standing over the body with a gun. The jury, however, found him guilty of murder despite a submission by his attorney that there was little evidence to convict Bennett. The CCJ, by a majority decision, allowed Bennett’s appeal.
