Cameroon joins Full Intra-African Air Transport Liberalization project

(Business in Cameroon) – Cameroon has just joined the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM), the African Civil Aviation Commission (AfCAC) announced. With this decision, the country now takes part in the project seeking to liberalize and unify the African skies, and benefits from free market access and free exercise of first, second, third, fourth and fifth freedom traffic rights for scheduled and freight air services.

Eligibility criteria for African Community carriers include compliance with safety and security standards, fair competition mechanisms, dispute settlement and better consumer protection.

Barbados Joins String of Caribbean Islands Ditching Plastics

Barbados is the latest Caribbean nation to announce a ban on single-use plastics.

The island nation of 286,000 people will bar the import, use, and sale of single-use plastics and polystyrene foam, commonly referred to as Styrofoam, as of April 1.

Single-use plastic bags will be banned starting Jan. 1, 2020, but Barbados is allowing exceptions in certain cases, such as packaging for medical and food products.
