Another Ernst & Young veteran joins Royal Caribbean board

Stephen R. Howe Jr., retired US chairman and managing partner, Ernst & Young, was appointed to Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd.’s board of directors, effective immediately.

Expert on diversity and inclusion

RCL chairman and CEO Richard Fain welcomed Howe, noting that his 35 years of involvement in professional services, as well as his experience with diversity and inclusion, will be a valuable addition to the board.

Howe served as Ernst & Young’s US chairman and managing partner and Americas area managing partner and was a member of EY’s Global Executive Board from 2006 until his retirement this month. While leading EY in the US and the Americas, he was the executive sponsor for the firm’s focus on diversity and inclusiveness.

First African-American female officer joins Bedford Police Dept.

BEDFORD, Va. (WSET) — The Bedford Police Department said they started November with a new, friendly face you might even recognize.

Officer Urshulla Meade has joined the Town of Bedford’s police department.

She graduated from Amherst County High School in 2014 and joined the military soon after graduation.

Another fact about Officer Meade is that she’s the first African-American female police officer to ever be hired within the department in the Town of Bedford.
