Ghana urges people of African heritage to ‘come home’

President Nana Akufo-Addo has designated 2019 the ‘Year of Return’ both to commemorate the resilience of Africans forced into slavery and to encourage their descendants to ‘come home.

Yacht designer murdered at his home on idyllic Caribbean island

London – A British yacht designer has been murdered at his home on a paradise island in the Caribbean.

Robert Hathaway, a 66-year-old Cambridge graduate, was found lying in a pool of blood.

Mr Hathaway was a long-term resident of St Lucia, where he married his second wife in November 2017.

His body was discovered by a neighbour in Gros Islet, a popular tourist destination on the island’s northern tip, on Sunday afternoon. The Royal St Lucia Police Force is conducting a murder investigation but on Monday said it had yet to make any arrests in connection with the killing.

Caf Confederation Cup defending champions Raja Casablanca were held 1-1 by Namibian champions African Stars in the first leg of the playoff rounds in Windhoek on Saturday.

Alfeus Mbwale Handura was on target for the hosts while Raja had to thank Soufiane Rahimi for the 51st minute away goal that could prove crucial when they host the Namibians next week.

Fighting for a place in the group stages, the Namibians were resilient against Raja and could still fancy their chances in the second leg.

Elsewhere, Nkana were at their best as they beat San Pedro of Ivory Coast 3-0 at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe.

Nearly 500 sickened on Royal Caribbean cruise ship set to call New Jersey home this spring

MIAMI (AP) — Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas is returning to a Florida port a day early and giving passengers full refunds of their fare after at hundreds of guests and crew members were hit with an outbreak of Norovirus as it sailed to Jamaica.

Cruise line spokesman Owen Torres told The Associated Press “we think the right thing to do is get everyone home early rather than have guests worry about their health.”

He says the ship will return to Port Canaveral on Saturday. It sailed from there Sunday on a seven-day Caribbean cruise.

In a video shared by passengers Friday, an announcement on the ship said the number of sick people had increased significantly, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

Defendants Mohamed Toure and Denise Cros-Toure, of Southlake, Texas, were convicted late yesterday by a federal jury in Ft.
