Just when we thought Facebook’s misdeeds couldn’t get any worse.

Two new government reports commissioned by the Senate Intelligence Committee revealed last week that Russian trolls launched a campaign to suppress the votes of largely African Americans in our 2016 presidential election — using Facebook as its primary social media network.

The reports indicated that three of the four most-liked Facebook posts urged the black community to be more cynical about the political process, vote for a Green Party candidate and “share” with others who vote that the community didn’t matter to presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. The fourth post encouraged African Americans to sit out the election as a means of exercising their rights.

NAACP calls for Facebook “Log Out” after report on Russian hackers targeting African Americans


In response to misinformation campaigns targeting Black people by a Russian-based company cited in a Senate Intelligence Committee report, the NAACP has decided to organize a boycott of Facebook and Facebook-owned platforms Instagram and WhatsApp,
