ARIN to expand Caribbean outreach in 2019


The American Registry for Internet Numbers (ARIN) has announced an expanded Caribbean outreach program for 2019, focusing on member outreach, internet security and resilience.

The announcement comes at a time when several Caribbean countries are calling for more attention to be paid cybersecurity and Internet resilience in the region.

“As one of five regional Internet registries worldwide, ARIN’s mission is to facilitate the advancement of the Internet through information and educational outreach,” said Bevil Wooding, ARIN’s Caribbean outreach liaison.

“Our 2019 Caribbean agenda focuses on raising awareness of critical internet infrastructure and practical strategies for strengthening internet security and resilience in the region,” he added.

Cuba intends to expand facilities for foreign trade


 

 

HAVANA, Cuba–Cuba will develop an integrated digital platform this year in order to facilitate foreign trade operations, which will be linked to the simplification of procedures for the export and import of goods.

  The Single Window of Foreign Trade (VUCE by its Spanish acronym) will provide information and will allow managing, through electronic means, the required approvals for the entry and exit of the products.

  According to Vivian Herrera, an official in the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, the implementation of VUCE will go through several phases due to its complexity and should be fully operational by the end of 2019.

Emirates and South African Airways to expand codeshare agreement


Emirates and South African Airways agreed to expand a codeshare partnership and explore other areas of bi-lateral co-operation in a boost to the state-owned African carrier, struggling to turn a profit since 2011.

The expanded commercial partnership will see the two airlines leverage one another’s route networks, cargo services and flight schedules to increase passenger flows, Emirates said in an emailed statement on Tuesday.

South African Airways, Emirates agree to expand codeshare pact


JOHANNESBURG, Dec 18 (Reuters) – South African Airways (SAA) said on Tuesday that it had signed a partnership deal with Emirates airline which would see the two firms expand an existing codeshare agreement and work on other areas of cooperation.
