Black people with sleep apnea twice as likely to develop high blood pressure, study says


Dec. 11 (UPI) — Untreated sleep apnea makes black people twice as likely to develop uncontrolled blood pressure, a study says.

A new study, funded largely by the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, or NHLBI, looked at 664 African-Americans with hypertension who had also participated in the Jackson Study, the largest study of causes of cardiovascular disease in African-Americans.The researchers found that over a quarter of them had moderate or severe sleep apnea.

Royal Caribbean, Port of Galveston to Develop New $85 Million Cruise Terminal


Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. and the Port of Galveston have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop a new multi-million dollar cruise terminal at the nation’s fourth-busiest cruise port.

According to Dallas News, the new terminal will cost around $85 million.

The new terminal— which will cover approximately 200,000 square feet on ten acres of land at Pier 10—is scheduled to open in fall 2021, the Port of Galveston announced in a Facebook post published Wednesday.
