Buhari lauds African parliamentarians for promoting democracy – Local


President Muhammadu Buhari has lauded the African Parliamentary Union (APU) for promoting democratic culture and human rights in Africa.

The president made the commendation at the opening of the 41st Conference of Speakers of the National Parliaments of the African Parliamentary Union in Abuja on Thursday.

Buhari also commended APU for choosing to look at the issues of terrorism and organised crimes in Africa.

Buhari seeks help of Africans in Diaspora to fight corruption  – Punch Newspapers

President Muhammadu Buhari has called on Africans in the Diaspora to come up with suggestions on how to curtail the menace of corruption on the continent.

According to a statement on Thursday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, the President made the call on Wednesday in New York while addressing participants at the High Level Media Launch on “Illicit Financial Flows and the Fight against Corruption: Curbing the Existence of Safe Havens – the Role of Africans in the Fight against Corruption.”

President Muhammadu Buhari has urged African countries to improve on ports infrastructure and utilise all natural maritime endowments to facilitate trade.Speaking at the first Regional Conference of International Africa Ports and Harbour (IAPH) on Monday in Abuja, Buhari said that interconnectivity would improve African countries’ economic competitiveness as targeted under the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan.
