Spanish giants FC Barcelona could reportedly turn to an African star as a replacement for a player who could leave the Camp Nou in January.

The Blaugrana signed Senegal right-back Moussa Wague for their reserve side at the beginning of the season, with the hope the 20-year-old will break into the first team sooner rather than later.


However, Wague could soon have an African teammate if second-choice goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen decides to leave the club in the upcoming transfer window.


According to Marca, Barcelona are keen to bring in Cameroon and Ajax Amsterdam shot-stopper Andre Onana as Cillessen’s replacment if the Dutchman leaves the Camp Nou.

Senegal right-back Moussa Wague signed for Barca’s reserve team at the beginning of the season, with reports suggesting he was bought with the intention of eventually being promoted to the first side.

Barcelona: South African teenagers and coach to travel to Spain


The teenagers are expected to visit FC Barcelona’s academy, Espanyol training session and also Girona’s academy during their trip to Europe

Four promising young South African footballers and a coach will be sent on the trip of a lifetime to Barcelona, Spain in October, 2018.

This is part of a partnership between the Future Champions, Gauteng provincial government and Spain’s top flight league, LaLiga Santander.

The four players are Nkanyiso Maphosa (16) Sahail Moosa (16), Zara Wilkinson (16) as well as Khanyezi Maphosa (16). 

The quartet impressed at the 2018 Future Players Talent Search and they were selected out of 10,000 players.
