A funeral service was held for the first African-American woman to serve in the U.S Coast Guard Dr. Olivia Juliette Hooker on Wednesday at White Plains Rural Cemetery, White Plains, New York.

Hooker was born on February 12, 1915, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, and passed away on November 21, in White Plains, New York, at the age of 103.
