SDG Advocates Chair Launches Prize for African “SDG Innovators” | News | SDG Knowledge Hub


9 August 2018: The Co-Chair of the Group of Eminent Advocates for the SDGs (SDG Advocates) and President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, launched an award for a new generation of early-stage social innovators in Africa who are solving problems in the SDGs’ focus areas. The award aims to put a spotlight on “SDG innovators” and raise awareness around their work.

‘Africa Innovates for the SDGs’ will reward African social innovators with ideas and initiatives linked to any of the 17 SDGs. Winners’ work will be showcased at the international level. The solutions submitted must:

  • Be unique, new and innovative;
  • Clearly contribute to one or more of the SDGs;
  • Have already been tested or have proven impact; and
  • Have the potential to create strong and meaningful impact on society…
