South Africa completed a strong opening day of the second Test to topple Australia for a minuscule 243 runs first innings.

Kagiso Rabada was the main destroyer with the ball in hand as he finished with figures of 5-96, his eighth five wicket haul.

Australia fought back late in the day as they claimed the wicket of opener Aiden Markram and will be hoping to inflict a batting collapse of their own.

Marsh enters the fray

Mitchell Marsh sent Faf du Plessis packing on nine with a skidding delivery smacking thr Proteas skipper on the pads LBW.

The wicket brought Theunis de Bruyn to the crease as Australia sat four overs away from the new ball.

The Aussie all-rounder sent de Bruyn back home shortly after, replicating his previous LBW delivery and trapping the 25-year-old for one.
