Royal Caribbean: No layoffs planned in Springfield; workforce will be reduce by attrition

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – Royal Caribbean officials said Thursday that the company does not plan to conduct layoffs at its Springfield facility.

Employees at Royal Caribbean had come forward to CruiseLawNews and KVAL, claiming the company planned to eliminate as many as 700 jobs in Springfield. The employees said they had been told the jobs would be going to call centers in Guatemala and Jamaica.

Corporate officials at the cruise line said by phone Thursday said the company does plan to reassign some of the jobs to other sites. They declined to say where those jobs would be located, and said officials have not decided how many jobs would be moved.
