Rev. Dr. DeForest ‘Buster’ Soaries discusses voter apathy

Rev. Dr. DeForest “Buster” Soaries, a leading voice in the African-American community as an African-American Baptist minister, author and public advocate, waited for a train to Washington, D.C. Monday morning.

Soaries obliged a request for conversation about African-Americans, politics and an apparent apathy that exists amongst black voters. Soaries’ delivered raised eyebrows when told about a recent Trenton municipal election which garnered a 22-percent turnout.
