Presidents’ Council wants to be African-Americans’ ‘voice’ in business community


African-Americans in Northeast Ohio have been gaining some ground in the regional workforce, especially in the health care and construction industries. Creating and growing African-American-owned businesses has been more of a struggle.

To speed up that process, the Presidents’ Council, a 22-year-old for-profit business development and investment entity, is expanding its role.

The Presidents’ Council was originally created, said Eddie Taylor Jr., its president, to help “the members grow their businesses and in a comprehensive and cohesive way to make better the landscape for African-American entrepreneurs.” Taylor is president of TaylorOswald, a Cleveland insurance and retirement planning business.
