Portable launches new imprint, Khoikhoi Records, named after his African ancestors


The first record on the South African artist’s label, Believing, comes out next month.

Portable is starting up a new label and releasing an EP in November.

Alan Abrahams, who also performs as Bodycode, will release Believing to kick off the new imprint, which the South African artist says is named after his ancestors. According to press materials, “The name comes from the first tribe who lived in pre-colonial South Africa, where [Portable] comes from, and roughly translate into ‘the first men.'”
