Police searching for College Area thief amid string of robberies


SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Police are warning College Area residents to be on the lookout after a robbery near San Diego State — the third reported robbery in two weeks.

Police said a robbery occurred Saturday at about 11 a.m. in the 5000 block of 63rd St. The suspect pulled a gun on the victim and took their backpack before fleeing.

SDPD set up a perimeter to search for the suspect but did not immediately find anyone.

The suspect is described as an African American male with a thin build and standing about 5-feet 9-inches tall.
