“My ex threatened to shoot me” – Is stigma stopping black African women from taking HIV tests?


Like most people who have a basic understanding of sexual health problems, I’ve always known black Africans are disproportionately diagnosed with HIV. But, during my first week working at Terrence Higgins Trust, I was utterly shocked by what I learned: that black African women are the largest group of new HIV diagnoses (46%), but the least likely to get tested.
