Monday Editorial: Honors for top local African-American scholars – Opinion – The Florida Times-Union

Congratulations to eight Duval County high school seniors recognized for their excellence as African-American scholars — and also for their outstanding extracurricular work in the community!

The eight students were honored during the annual High Potential Youth Recognition Awards Program hosted by the University of North Florida.

All of the students were presented with one-time academic scholarships toward their college education.

The winning students and their high schools are as follows:

● Sandrilla Awad Elkarim (Atlantic Coast).

● Eric Mitchell (Paxon).

● Alonna Turner, Alexis Williams and Victoria Laws (all attending Lee).

● Nkosi Alexander-Williams (Sandalwood).

● Mahelet Dalke (Wolfson).
