Mid-air drama as Birmingham Airport flight to Caribbean forced into U-turn

A flight from Birmingham Airport has made an unscheduled u-turn.

The flight, departing from the Midlands air travel hub to the Caribbean, left Birmingham Airport shortly after 12.30pm.

The flight departed on Tuesday, November 6.

It was initially scheduled to land in Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.

The flight was set to touch down in the Caribbean nine hours later – but has turned around and is heading back to Brum.

The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner barely passed over the north-western tip of Ireland before making the u-turn.

The reason for the diversion is not yet known, reports CoventryLive.

But the plane has wasted no time in making its return, and is currently on final approach to Birmingham Airport.
