Local museum honors Winnebago County’s first African American Judge


ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) — An exhibit dedicated to Winnebago County’s first African American judge officially opened Sunday afternoon.

The Ethnic Heritage Museum dedicated the Judge K. Patrick Yarbrough exhibit with a ceremony. Area and state leaders shared their memories of working with Yarbrough. Many who spoke recalled his big heart and his cheerful spirit. Yarbrough is a native of the area. Judge Yarbrough is the supervising judge of the juvenile division of the 17th Judicial Court of Illinois.
