Letter: Measuring human folly in St Vincent and the Grenadines

Dear Sir:

Writing on the issue of our rising violent crime rate here recently, our government here in St Vincent and the Grenadines has been telling us that young males here, quote; “have chosen to invest in low-end but dangerous gun violence and that these individuals have become “armed entrepreneurs”, living illegally off the fat of the land, making absolutely no contribution to the country’s development, sucking from it, and on innocent law-abiding people of all walks of life.”

Indeed, week after week and day after day, one tragedy after another is being reported here in the local press and on and on it goes, in this our never-ending hell. Murder, rape, burglary, child sex abuse! Man stab, man chop, woman hurt! Murder, rape, burglary, child sex, muggings, man…
