Letter: Does the prime minister understand the implications of his close relationship with Maduro?


Dear Sir:

What exactly did our government sign in Venezuela on Saturday?

Was it a contract or terms of agreement between the two countries that was signed by Trinidad and Tobago’s Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley and Venezuela’s President Nicholas Maduro?

If it is the latter then Trinidad and Tobago has absolutely nothing to celebrate.

Signing a “terms of agreement” is not a contract as a contract is legally binding and enforceable by law and in this case, which law… Venezuelan or Trinidad and Tobago’s?

We are now learning that this signed energy agreement has not been approved by Venezuela’s National Assembly, so really, it’s a draft agreement.
