Letter: Cuba: The debate on the constitution

Dear Sir:

In recent weeks our people have been engaged in discussing the proposed new constitution that has been presented to them.

The amendments to the current constitution are a few, we could say more than one hundred that, together with the proposals that are being made during the discussion and analysis of it, could reach double.

I wonder, are we in a hurry for something?

An instrument such as the constitution, the law of laws, we must analyze and modify it at this speed.

Is it that the current constitution, which our people approved a few years ago, is so divorced from reality that we either modify it or perish?

Would not it be more rational to take the four or five most crucial problems of our nation and submit those to a referendum? Without hurry, but without pause,…
