Last call for African American Heritage Tour tickets

Tickets are still available for the upcoming June 2 African American Heritage Tour, a part of the Carroll County Public Schools and Carroll County Public Library system’s collaborative “One Book” program.

The tour, scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., will take people around Carroll County to learn about its historic African-American sites to celebrate the One Book program’s first book: “In Carrie’s Footprints: The Long Walk of Warren Dorsey,” by Sykesville author Jack White.

White’s book shares the story of 97-year-old Carroll County native Warren Dorsey — a slave’s grandson who overcame war, sickness, racism and an impoverished childhood, ultimately becoming a scientist, teacher and school principal.
