John Legend  becomes first African-American EGOT winner


Soulful singer, John Legend has become the youngest person to win Emmy, Grammy, Oscars and Tony awards

 EGOT is an acronym for Emmy, Grammy, Oscars and Tony awards. Winners of the quartet attain showbiz icon status in showbiz circles.

 

The vocalist also made history as the first black man to win the four awards.

 

The ‘ All of me’ singer on Sunday won the Creative Arts Emmys for his role in NBC’s ‘Jesus Christ Superstar, Live in Concert’.

Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, both involved in the stage production, also joined Legend as new EGOT winners.

Webber, Rice and Legend became the 13th, 14th, and 15th people in history to have EGOT.
