IAAF Continental Cup – Caster Semenya sets South African record


Caster Semenya smashed another South African record on Saturday, as she won the silver medal for the African team in the 400m Women at the IAAF Continental Cup in Ostrava, Czech Republic.

Semenya registered a time of 49.62 secondscrossing the line to set a new national mark, with Salwa Eid Naser of Bahrain winning gold for the Asia-Pacific squad in 49.32.

The President of Athletics South Africa, Aleck Skhosana, was at a loss for words as he congratulated Semenya.
