Hurricane Isaac is tracking westward and the current forecast from the National Hurricane Center predicts it will move toward the Caribbean on Monday and head to the Lesser Antilles.

The NHC said: “Isaac is moving toward the west near 14mph (22km/h).

“A westward motion with a slight increase in forward speed is expected through the end of the week.

“On the forecast track, Isaac should move across the Lesser Antilles and into the eastern Caribbean Sea on Thursday.”

It could begin to weaken later this week as it approaches the Caribbean and nears the Lesser Antilles.

The hurricane has maximum sustained winds near 75 mph (120 km/h) and it is expected to strengthen over the next couple of days.

As of 11am AST (4pm BTC) Isaac was 1,150 miles east of the Windward Islands.
