CONCORD – Throughout Cabarrus County and the Carolinas, what we like to believe is the real racing capital of the world, we’ve all known about Bubba Wallace and his plight.

We’ve watched the former Northwest Cabarrus High School student take his lumps on dirt tracks and move up through the ranks, desperately fighting for sponsorships and working toward a full-time Cup ride.

Wallace was kind of like “our” Bubba in Cabarrus County, much the way we see Kannapolis’ Daniel Hemric and a few other local racers working their way up.
