Governor names new state park in honor of pioneering African-American politician

Big plans: Gov. Cuomo announced on Sept. 5 the name of the new park — the Shirley Chisholm State Park, which is named in honor of the Brooklyn-born politician who became the first African-American Congresswoman in 1968. He also announced that the state would invest $20 million in the project, up from the $15 million commitment he made in January 2018.
