Fly Jamaica overshoots runway in Guyana

Local civil aviation authorities were on Friday investigating an incident involving a Fly Jamaica Boeing 757-200 aircraft, which overshot the runway at Guyana’s main international airport earlier in the day injuring several people officials said.

Airline spokesman Carl Bowen said that the plane with 120 passengers and eight crew members was on its way to Toronto, Canada when the crew reported problems with the hydraulic system, forcing them to return to the Cheddi Jagan International Airport where it made an emergency landing, eating up nearly 10,000 feet of runway tarmac as its broken…
