First female African-American U of I student president graduates

CHAMPAIGN-URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — U of I’s first female African-American president graduated this weekend. 

Raneem Shamseldin completed her term as president earlier this year. While in office, she pushed for inclusion on campus in many different ways. She says her experiences taught her the importance of persistence. 

Shamseldin graduated after three years at U of I. She plans to work in international business, then go to law school.
