First African American woman elected to office in Blount County


ALCOA, Tenn. (WATE) – An East Tennessee woman made history on Election Day. Jackie Hill became the first African American woman to be elected to office in Blount County.

That alone is worthy of attention, but when you look at all she’s done for her community, you see that Hill has been “planting a seed” for public service for a long time.

Looking at Hill’s involvement in issues important to her, you’ll see pictures of her front and center at events like March for Lives in Washington, DC, and Unite Against Racism in Nashville. Hill, the newly-elected Blount County Commissioner Seat A, is probably best known for making a difference in her own front yard.
