BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

On Thursday, several organizations got together to celebrate one of Louisiana’s politicians who changed the way things were done.

Ernest Morial was the first African American elected to the state’s legislature. The city held a reception at the state capitol recognizing the 50th anniversary of that historic election. State officials, family, and friends all gathered to honor Morial’s legacy. His wife, Sybil, says her husband’s political journey wasn’t easy.
