Exhibit reflects on service of African-American military members


CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) — Americans are taking the time to honor those in uniform on this Veterans Day.

The African-American community reflected on the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day with an exhibit at the Carver Recreation Center.

Armistice Day signaled the end of fighting during World War I in 1918, and later became Veterans Day in 1954 as a federal holiday.

Pictures at the exhibit tell the stories of African-Americans from the American Revolution to present-day.

Veterans in Charlottesville said it should be considered a ‘truth-telling’ show.
