BOONE COUNTY, Ind. (WTHR) — An Eagle Scout will receive a $15,000 grant to continue his work on a 19th century cemetery.

Reece Thompson started restoring an African-American cemetery in Boone County last year as a way to earn his Eagle Scout ranking.

The Thorntown cemetery dates back to the 1800s. Thompson researched the history of the cemetery and got money to clean the headstones.

Even though Thompson has already earned his Eagle Scout rank, he is still working on the project.

The new grant will pay for a fence and an Indiana state marker.
