I didn’t know any black architects growing up. I wasn’t taught by black architects. In fact, I wasn’t really taught about black architects. At school, when I immersed myself in architectural literature and history, the people responsible for creating the most revered buildings in the world were mostly white and mostly men.

The narrative has changed little. Pursuing a life-long career in an industry with almost no self-representation can be a daunting task. But, like many of my peers, it was this lack of diversity that ignited my ambition to push for real change in our industry.
