FRISCO — The Dallas Cowboys will spend an extra night in Washington, D.C., after they play the Redskins on Sunday afternoon so the players and coaches can visit the National Museum of African American History and Culture.

This isn’t new for coach Jason Garrett, who has had the Cowboys make other field trips before. The team visited the Navy Seals headquarters in San Diego following a preseason game in 2012, traveled to New York a day early in 2015 to visit Ground Zero and, in August, visited NASA before a preseason game against the Houston Texans.

The chance to visit the National Museum of African American History and Culture worked out for the Cowboys because they have a bye next week. They usually fly back to Dallas after a road game, but this time will stay Sunday night and then visit…
