DA to petition Ramaphosa on rights of South African voters abroad – The Citizen

The Democratic Alliance will petition President Cyril Ramaphosa about the rights of South African voters currently living abroad, DA leader in the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) Cathy Labuschagne said on Sunday.

On Thursday January 10, the NCOP passed the Electoral Laws Amendment Bill which would now be referred to Ramaphosa for assent, she said.

This after NCOP chairperson Thandi Modise “violated the constitutional rights” of all South Africans abroad by refusing to allow the DA’s proposed amendments to the bill to be considered.
