Concert to provide comfort for the downcast – Chico Enterprise-Record


CHICO — A sigh of relief will ring through Faith Lutheran Church as people cling to assurances that it’s OK to grieve.

Krystal J. F. Grant has experienced suffering that seeped down into her bones. The words of the Psalms have spoken to her heart, comforting her in times of grief. She now uses those words of comfort and her musical talents to create space for consolation as she puts on a concert to encourage audiences to pause, take a breath and acknowledge pain.

In essence, Grant’s concert is “a recognition that in order to heal, we need to actually pause and feel the pain,” she said. “I want people to honestly admit, ‘yes, this hurts.’”

A key Bible verse she takes to heart is Exodus 2:24, “And God heard their groaning.”
