GLOBAL PIRACY RISES BY 160pc

US-based One Earth Future (OEF) said in a report on global piracy that overall incidents of piracy increased by 160 per cent in the Caribbean and Latin America. The report’s lead author, Maisie Pigeon, said: “We have observed a significant increase in violent incidents and anchorage crime, particularly in the anchorages of Venezuela and the recent violent incidents off Suriname in the rst part of this year.”
