HURRICANES LOSE REGION £1 BILLION

The Caribbean Tourism Organisation (CTO) has said that the region lost more than $1 billion in tourism revenue after pictures of the hurricane damage caused people to book alternative holidays.

CTO Chair Joy Jibrilu said that even areas not damaged during hurricane season in 2017 saw a decline in visitors. A World Travel and Tourism Council report estimated that recovery could take up to four years, costing the region another $3bn.
