Beloit Daily News – News, African American discipline numbers remain high

BELOIT – While the number of administrative hearings and expulsions in the School District of Beloit has widely vacillated over the past three years, the over-representation of minorities within those numbers has remained relatively steady, according to data provided by the district in a Tuesday school board meeting.

In the 2015-2016 school year, changes in administration and use of restorative practices resulted in administrative hearings decreasing by 64 percent and expulsions decreasing by 77 percent.

In 2016-2017, administrative hearings increased 76 percent and expulsions increased 43 percent.

In 2017-2018, administrative hearings decreased 9 percent and expulsion hearings decreased 30 percent.
